- The smallest fox species in the world.
- Body length: 24–41 cm; weight: 0.8–1.5 kg.
- Huge ears (up to 15 cm) help with heat regulation and detecting prey underground.
- Native to the Sahara Desert and other arid regions of North Africa. Nocturnal: active at night to avoid desert heat.
- Diet: insects, rodents, birds, eggs, and fruit.
- Lives in burrows dug in sand for shelter and temperature control.
- Fur is pale and thick, reflecting sunlight and insulating against cold nights.
