Great Grey Owl facts

• One of the longest owls in the world (up to 84 cm).
• Wingspan can reach 152 cm.
• Found in northern forests of North America, Europe, and Asia.
• Recognisable by its large, round face with pale facial discs and dark rings.
• Hunts mainly small rodents, especially voles.
• Can hear prey under snow and dive to catch it.
• Nests in old raptor nests or broken tree tops.
• Mostly active at dusk and night.
• Doesn’t migrate far, but moves when food is scarce.
• Despite its size, it weighs only 1–1.5 kg due to fluffy feathers.
